Yeah agreed conceptually, but I'm not aware of any good, user-friendly, open-source, going-to-continue-to-be-developed, federatable reddit alternatives, but I'd love to hear about any if you know of them! This is the closest thing (https://github.com/hummingbard/hummingbard), but it looks very early in development and I couldn't recommend it given that in order to log in with matrix you have to provide them with your matrix password.
