It seems they're not considering https://github.com/antoyo/rustc_codegen_gcc - I hope that will be the solution that provides retrocomputing suppport without requiring maintaining a whole separate implementation of the Rust compiler.

Personally, I look forward to seeing what rust-gcc looks like in 6 months time. According to the latest roadmap snapshot -- which so far held up:

Google has a problem of rarely working on existing projects or features, instead going for Flashy New Features and products, just New Stuff in general, a lot of which they just close down later, sometimes after long periods of minimal to no support. Didn't they just recently make another new chat app?
