The only thing it is missing natively which Audacity had built-in is background noise filtering; but that is easily accomplished with a plugin such as Lucian Dato's Noise Repellent.
I recommend Ardour, because I prefer using open-source tools where possible. You can get an "official" build on almost any OS for a nominal fee, or you can build it yourself at no cost from source (as many Linux distributions do).
