The easiest way to get up and running is Umbrel. I set up Cornelius using a low-level guide called RaspiBolt.
Umbrel (the Operating System) can be downloaded from getumbrel.com. It took me about a week to download the blockchain, downloading 12 hours per day (you can stop then restart the download from Umbrel settings page). Then another 12 hours to do the indexing (this cannot be resumed, except from the beginning). Currently I use it to check a paper wallet balance using an add-on blockchain explorer, but I plan to use Specter or Electrum add-ons (haven't decided which yet) to transfer some satoshis to a hardware wallet.
You can simply download Bitcoin Core client from here and install it + let it sync up: http://bitcoincore.org
