I just synced a Monero node after it being offline for 7 days on a high-end computer. It took about an hour to sync 7 days of blocks. (These days Monero has about 25,000 tx per day.) Monero avoids really slow syncs from the beginning of the chain for most node operators by placing historical known block hashes in every major/minor/patch version of the Monero node software, skipping verification of transactions inside those blocks: https://github.com/monero-project/monero/issues/8836
