I found "mrustc" a few months ago, but was unable to get it to bootstrap on my machine. I did just search for alternative compilers again and found this one as well: https://rust-gcc.github.io/
https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/tree/master/compiler rust is open source and very compartmentalized, if there's any particular part of the compiler you dislike just rewrite it. There's no "trust" if you're coding-literate, the compiler isn't a black box. If you are worried something is insecure just look at its source code.
