Direct3D 8 to Vulkan translation for DXVK!

  • Worry not, if you want to play Windows games on Linux, you will use Wine, and Wine has codepaths for very old DirectX versions, it translates it to OpenGL. Alternatively if you really insist there is D8VK although it shouldn't be necessary. For DirectX games that use DirectX 9, 10, or 11 you are covered with DXVK which translates those APIs into Vulkan. And for DirectX 12 games you're back to Wine with WineD3D which will do translation to Vulkan. Technically WineD3D supports every DirectX version, but DirectX 9, 10, and 11 codepaths are half finished, buggy, and less performant, that's why DXVK exists.

  • d9vk

A Direct3D9 to Vulkan layer using the DXVK backend. [Upstreamed to DXVK]
