Telemetry paradox

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/linuxmasterrace

Our great sponsors
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • hosts

🔒 Consolidating and extending hosts files from several well-curated sources. Optionally pick extensions for porn, social media, and other categories.

  • Use something like these lists: https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts

  • kodi-standalone-service

Use systemd to allow for standalone operation of kodi.

  • Setup Kodi with kodi-standalone-service (note: read the readme) so it always runs. Plug your pi into the TV. You can probably use your existing remotes to control Kodi using CEC.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

  • pijarr

A shell script to automate the installation and configuration of Jackett, Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, Readarr, Prowlarr, and Bazarr on Debian based distros.

  • Setup the *arr services (and jackett) using pijarr. This entire process seems like a lot, but if you ignore time time spent downloading/building/installing stuff, it's really only an hour or so of actual interaction. Some of the services have telemetry enabled by default, so disable that before you use them.

  • LibreELEC.tv

    Just enough OS for KODI

  • You don't need to use an IR receiver. I know at least the rpi 4 supports CEC. You can use the remote that came with your TV, the TV will relay commands back to the pi over HDMI. You can also use a 2.4 GHz remote (I got a wechip G20) and then yoink this hwdb file from LibreELEC: https://github.com/LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv/blob/master/packages/sysutils/systemd/hwdb.d/70-local-keyboard.hwdb (You can also reference this file for names of remotes to look into)

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
