I wrote a script that does a bunch of things including deduplication with jdupes making hardlinks to preserve the structure but eliminate the extra disk space, snapshot, remove extra hardlinks before pushing a copy to GCS and S3 (because those backup targets don't support deduplication so the hardlinked files are uploaded as regular files incurring extra cost), then rollback the snapshot to the hardlink version. I run this every two months when I download the takeout archive.
