  • distrobox

Use any linux distribution inside your terminal.

Project mention: What distro do you use? Yes | reddit.com/r/linuxmasterrace | 2022-01-25

Shoutout to --> https://github.com/89luca89/distrobox Dude is a redditor u/89luca9 . Distrobox makes it super easy running containers via docker or podman like native, rootless, sharing your homefolder on host. Super nice, you can mix and match applications, and even install graphical applications in your container and export it to your host which then automagically creates a .desktop folder and it just works*trademark. Perfect for Silverblue or if you just want to play around, or actually need an application from another distro. Needs more recognition for awesome it is! What you see in top right corner is a Gnome extension called containers which makes it easy to see if any container is running, and you can stop it. --> https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1500/containers/

The 'replicable' heart of my computer(s) (by myTerminal)

Project mention: What's the general purpose behind dotfiles management software? | reddit.com/r/linuxmasterrace | 2021-10-03

I've been maintaining my own dotfiles on GitHub for over seven years now (and probably have also overdone it at some point of time) and though I've had some small challenges to use them across machines, I've never experienced something as big that I'll need a third-party "dotfiles management" tool to take care of that for me. I sync it through my GitHub account and pull updates regularly. Fun fact: I've also been able to use the same one across macOS, Linux, and even Windows at work!
