Project mention: LibreOffice – Let's put an end to the speculation | news.ycombinator.com | 2026-04-05

    > Did the ejected developers work on those, or did they only work on things built on top of then or other other non-core things?

Yes. According to Collabora's stats (on their perspectives), they contribute more than half of the documented features from the release notes for LibreOffice 26.2 [1].

Collabora's own version of LibreOffice lies in another repo [2], which presumably contains code specific to their own online office suite built from LibreOffice. They seem to moving away for a (maybe soft) fork of LibreOffice, while setting up their own Gerrit instance [3].

  12. acc

    Advanced Charging Controller

    Project mention: BU-808: How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries (2023) | news.ycombinator.com | 2026-01-25

One of the biggest reasons I still prefer to root my phone is to use acc https://github.com/VR-25/acc. It's criminal that you have to root to run code that reduces charging speed or shuts the phone down automatically. I have it shut down at 20% and charge to 80% except when I know I will need to be out for an extended period without a charger.

Project mention: Molly: An Improved Signal App | news.ycombinator.com | 2025-11-28

I agree. In comparison, GrapheneOS writes a summary tag message of the major changes, but links to the commit diff between tags, too:

    https://github.com/GrapheneOS/Vanadium/releases

With Signal you can do the same yourself, but nobody curated a unique summary message per tag (they reuse the same one across many tags):
