Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Thinking of learning Zig and systems programming
you can take it as far as you want depending on how deep you want to go. You can use something like this which is a basic wrap of the imgui library which should let you set up a simple gameboy style UI so that you can focus on writing the actual emulator.
