ytdl-patched VS Seal

For me, the less-complicated client called "DVD" is more reliable for downloading than the client called "Newpipe"; the later stops working intermittently. YMMV.

(Neither are as reliable as using own custom command line programs on desktop, or mobile via Termux. If Google makes a change I can fix/workaround immediately. No waiting for app developers.)

For me, Newpipe works well as a Soundlcoud client.

Once downloaded, the video files can be played anywhere, on any device.

If yt-dlp works, you can also use Celluloid to watch videos from Youtube — choose Open Location and enter the YouTube video or playlist page.

Couldn't you just use the subtitles from youtube directly?

youtube-dl is broken now and barely updated for some byzantine reasons, no?

yt-dlp is supposed to be the new hotness, though I've yet to try it. https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/

Don't know about Ymusic as it doesn't seem open source, but seal [0] seems like a good alternative, based on yt-dl

On Android, you can use Seal[1] to download YT videos locally. It also supports many other sites.

There are also other ones like Powertube, Seal, Tubemate, SpotiFlyer(for music). Use whichever one you like.

If you want to use a downloader other than NewPipe, (such as Seal or YTDLnis you need to set it up in YT ReVanced
