- pup: Parsing HTML at the Command Line
- xpe: A commandline xpath parser that is easy to use.

What are some useful cli tools that arent popular?
xpe - a commandline xpath parser. xpaths are better than css queries for getting at specific html elements in the DOM. Compared to other parsers, this one is easier to use, and supports html.

Tell ONE terminal app you use everyday but no one seems know about the app
I use the heck out of xpe. It's a super simple command-line xpath parser using lxml in python.
-
htmlq - like jq, but for HTML
If you like xmllint, you might like xpe. It's more user-friendly.
-
What tools / utilities have you written that you use regularly?
xpe - a commandline xpath parser. I made this after trying to use xpaths for web automation in bash, and not finding anything that worked.
-
A list of command line tools for manipulating structured text data
For commandline xpath parsing for simple commandline web automation, xpe is pretty handy. It's a real simple python script, but it scratches that itch, and it's only a pip install away.

Need help getting the Elden Ring Seamless Co-op mode working with Proton
As you can see I manually installed the most recent Proton version 7.20. First I tried version 7.17 without success. So make sure to install the newest. If you don't know how to do that just use this simple script: https://github.com/flubberding/ProtonUpdater.

What tools / utilities have you written that you use regularly?
I've also written a script that installs/updates ProtonGE for you in the past, which was my first real attempt at learning bashscripting and even got semi popular. I've had several plans to implement in a newer version (and even implemented a few) but I never got around to it. Lately I've been thinking about picking it up again tho.

Thanks to Linux I discovered the awesome game "The Long Dark". I was looking for native games to run on Zorin OS, and found this game. Best discovery I made for a long time!
You can do it manually but I just find it easier to use a script like this which automatically installs the latest proton ge. Run it and it will automatically install the latest proton ge as an option in steam https://github.com/flubberding/ProtonUpdater

I created a script to install the latest Proton GE automatically

Notifications /auto updates for app updates from git?
Im pretty new to linux, but ive tried digging around for this but couldnt find an answer unless i was the one creating forks etc. But im looking into if its possible to have a system setup to be notified when an update from a package i installed( lets say ProtonGE from Glorious) to inform me an update has been released and then download it. I do see the Protonupdater from Flubberding, but would need to be ran everytime to check for updates. Would there be an easy method i can use to do this, or just stick with checking protonupdater manually ?

Overwhelmed with Linux - Feeling extremely useless
Cproton, which is a script that downloads the latest version of a fork of Proton from github, extracts it into the right directory and restarts Steam if the user wishes so. FYI: Proton is (a package of) software by Valve that's build into Steam that enables you to run most Windows games on Linux. It combines Wine, DXVK and some other technologies. This fork is a popular enhanced version by a Redhat employee that's more up-to-date and has some extra fixes. Normally you'd have to go to Github, download the latest version from the page and manually extract it into the right folder.
