ranger.nvim - file browser plugin [lua][async]
I previously wrote vim-netranger. It was in python, synchronous-by-nature and had a lot of design flaws like viml-python-communication.

Lol. You forgot https://github.com/ipod825/ranger.nvim which is 100% lua.

ranger.nvim - file browser plugin [lua][async]
I tried to decouple modules in ranger.nvim as much as possible (unlike vim-netranger, which has a single file of 2000ish lines). And most of code is separated into my other plugin libp.nvim that is also highly modularized. Hacking it should be not too hard.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing vim-netranger and ranger.nvim you can also consider the following projects:
libp.nvim - A library for writting neovim plugins.
chadtree - File manager for Neovim. Better than NERDTree.
rnvimr - Make Ranger running in a floating window to communicate with Neovim via RPC
defx.nvim - :file_folder: The dark powered file explorer implementation for neovim/Vim8
lf.vim - Lf integration in vim and neovim
dotfiles - eternal quest of crafting an environment that works for me
ranger.vim - Ranger integration in vim and neovim
