Zen browser had a backdoor enabled by default
If anyone is looking to stick with Firefox-based browsing, Iād recommend vanilla Firefox with arkenfox/user.js [0] and uBlock Origin.

Ah, interesting, I was unaware of user.js
It seems https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js is a comprehensive set of settings for that

Does Firefox sell your personal data?
Arkenfox has a good user.js [0] you can use. Each comment tells you what the option their disabling is.
I had been putting one together based on it for newer machines (and it worked great), but just now when I went to look for it, I'm not sure what happened to it. Sorry I can't share mine.
If I recall correctly, you just plop the user.js into your profile. You'll want to do it from a fresh profile* and then any time you want to make a change, you'll make it in user.js instead of about:config. What I believe happens is every time Firefox start, it applies all the configuration options specified in your user.js.

Firefox update added more sponsored content on new-tab page
https://github.com/yokoffing/BetterFox
I set this up once, sometimes do a git pull, and honestly, I can't see "annoyances" others always complain about. Maybe I look at the wrong places / learned to ignore them. Or maybe it's BetterFox removing them. Worth a try

Make Firefox Private Again
Yes, beta version for sure, possibly it works on the normal version.

Need advice: What browser would you recommend for someone who wants to sync between Linux, Mac and iOS
I use Brave/Firefox, so I might be biased, but I think they are the best options. If you want things to be lightweight, you could just remove some of the fat from Firefox using something like Betterfox.

Betterfox: User.js to harden Firefox and optimize privacy, security, and speed
> Most of the preferences in this will actually reduce the target-able attack surface
Can you point to anything specific that reduces the attack surface?
When looking at the "securefox" config, it does a bunch of strange things, like enabling embedded TikTok links (https://github.com/yokoffing/Betterfox/blob/443710b0738ebc8f...) and disabling UITour (https://github.com/yokoffing/Betterfox/blob/443710b0738ebc8f...) which Firefox uses to highlight menus and is only accessible by approved Mozilla domains (https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/source/browser/app/per...).
It's a very strange mix of configs.
