A faster block button needs to be instituted.
If you use Totsugeki mod with Unga Bunga R-codes open in like 5 seconds for easy blocking.

I can't speak for the size of the player base, but if you do end up getting the PC version then you might want to check out totsugeki, which speeds up the loading screens.

At least that one's easily solvable on PC with Totsugeki. Why doesn't ArcSys just implement the fix into the base game? The world may never know...

AMD's drivers are not really more open that Nvidia's. Similar to Nvidia's Open GPU Kernel Module's[0], AMD's opensource drivers are mostly a shim that wrap firmware blobs[1] in which the functionality you really care about is contained.

My understanding is that nowadays most of the heavy lifting is done by magic going on in the firmware, so the actual driver is relatively simple and is open source: https://github.com/NVIDIA/open-gpu-kernel-modules
