Best looooooong run roguelikes
I'm actually a fan of Tome2, in particular this version that removes a lot of what I call "old roguelike bullshit features", such as item identification and traps. Don't get me wrong, it's still long and perhaps grind-y, as is common for the bands, but not having to constantly trot back to town to buy more scrolls of ID because that junkart you just picked up *might cause instant death when evoked is a nice feature that lets you get to the interesting part of the (30+ hour) run more quickly.

Which RL has the most content?
ToME2 has a lot of character options, and although it's another Angband variant it's also quite distinct.

What would an OSR video game be like?
TOME was originally called Troubles on Middle Earth, then renamed to Tales of Middle Earth (ToME2), which is the most awesome fork of Angband. The developer started working on ToME3, then abandoned the project afraid the Tolkien estates will bully a free roguelike for legal reasons, so he made Tales of Maj'Eyal instead, which is a very popular modern roguelike.

Did someone manage to compile latest Tome 2.4.0 and could share it or provide a tuto?
The github for this seemingly legendary roguelike I can't play is here : https://github.com/tome2/tome2

I know it's been brought up plenty on this subreddit after all, but I really have to emphasize it for anyone on the fence: Tales of Maj'Eyal is AMAZING.
If you're itching to play 2.3.5 again I managed to build it for windows 10 and have a release you can download here.

Looking at trying one of the many Angband variants. Which one is for me?
There are couple of ways to get older versions of ToME, most popular being the Anonymous Hero's version but you need to compile that yourself and it never works for me so I recommend this version by /u/gopher_space : https://github.com/jnday/tome2/releases/tag/v1.1

What are some alternatives?
When comparing tome2 and tome2 you can also consider the following projects:
FAangband - First Age Angband
frogcomposband - A variant of PosChengband and Composband with more stuff, more humor and fewer bugs
sil-q
ElonaPlusCustom-GX - Elona+ variant based on Custom-G
Furyband - This is a game based on Tales of Middle Earth (version 2). Also contained is the Zop's Furyband mod.
