Classical ciphers in Python -- a code along to Simon Singh's "The Code Book"
You can find the source code over at GitHub: tlgs/the-code-book. I focused on solely implementing the encryption operation of each cipher. I titled this post Classical ciphers but there's also an implemention of RSA using the PKCS #1 v1.5 padding scheme.

One of my favorite early references is A Byte of Python by Swaroop. It breaks down the basics really well, has no ads, and is completely free. You can even download a copy as PDF or EPUB from the author's GitHub page.
