I would suggest looking into scratch to start with. It's designed for kids and making games. After that I would suggest looking into Processing for a more advanced and "professional" experience where you are actually writing code. A good resource for your son would probably be the YouTube channel The Coding Train. He makes very fun and informational videos and uses Processing for many of them!
