Meme collected from Twitter
They did recently added community fixes from mastercoms and makaroffilya in the March 1st and March 20th update. So I'm 100% certain that they'll add plenty of fixes from Team Comtress 2 (which is now TF2 Patches) and probably whatever they'll find from the workshop for this summer update.

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of March 6, 2023
Late update to my previous comment on Team Fortress 2, but Valve managed to address the game breaking issues facing Mann vs Machine as well as numerous other glitches fairly quickly which is nice. More interestingly, and what I was hoping to see a little more explanation on but it looks like that won't happen, Valve has added numerous new Steam Workshop tags for the game including "Community Fixes", and implemented a few patches from community developers such as Mastercoms. The latter is best known for her documentation of numerous glitches and bugs on various games and, for TF2, the development of Team Comtress 2: a mod based on the 2017 source code leak that addresses numerous performance issues and glitches as a proof of concept and to submit to Valve. She's spent years working on and documenting fixes for the spaghetti code that TF2 is built on, and to see her directly referenced is promising. Add in the new community fixes tag, which is already filled with small patches and improvements, and it looks like the company may be moving towards community developed patches for the game?

Update!!!!!
You're thinking of Team Comtress 2 (now appearently renamed to tf2-patches). Mastercomfig is a config also made by mastercoms, but it is something completely different.
- For this summer update, why don't we hold Valve to their "Community Fixes" portion and try to get TC2's fixes added in?

So we all know TF2 is barely held together in code right? And they added stuff to make it easy for devolopers to make better maps and easier code and stuff. I dunno I am not a nerd- Anyway. So,what if...they are trying to fix TF2's spagetti code so that they can make other updates easier?
Team comtress has done SHITLOADS in regards to performance and even sent said work to valve, and guess what! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AS ALWAYS LOL

No remodel of outdated heroes models now? Personas are the only way to update them now?
https://github.com/mastercomfig/team-comtress-2 A community member was able to use out of date source code to roll out an update that fixes a majority of hitbox and bugs, as well as significantly improve the performance in every metric.

Maybe we could ask valve to import the fixes from team comtress 2? seems quicker than the contractor doing it from scratch.
There are at least a few balance changes in version 0.3.1 here

- Team Comtress 2's github repo has disappeared

if Valve doesn't wanna make updates for TF2, why not give us community updates? It worked for L4D2. Sure Invasion was a mess but it could work
Link to what I'm talking about.

Stabby has retired :(
Honestly the code and workforce things are not problems. There's already a community patch (based on the 2017 TF2 leaks, so basically 90% same game right now) that has the capability to be added to the game currently. Valve literally has a github page with bug submissions for all of their commercial projects. They just don't want to go through these and fix/ update them.

TIL Botkiller flamethrowers are not "turned on"/lit.
Apparently the pilot light for these weapons broke during Jungle Inferno? https://github.com/mastercomfig/team-comtress-2/issues/496 has some research into it

Any tips for a new player?
I wish valve would just implement team comtress 2 already. The community did all of the work for them. DOTA 2 got some of these fixes but NOOOO... TF2 just doesn't make enough money for them. We can cry all we want but Valve doesn't care.
What are some alternatives?

LeySourceEngineProxyServ - Ley Proxy Servers for Source engine servers - Zyre. Think of cloudflare but for source engine and with geo-cast based server ping enhancing for free. I've created this tool to A. protect my servers by hiding their real IP entirely. The only visible IPs will be the node IPs. And B. to artifically enhance the ping on the server list of source servers to get more players to join. Unlike anycast this does not have any costs besides your server costs. It avoids duplicates by only letting the location geographically closest (latitude, longtitude) respond to the user. This could potencially be enhanced by using e.g. automatic detection of nodes being down/up or automatic IP switching combined with GSLT to basically make your servers non ddosable.
