My team at work uses taiga

taiga.io — Project management platform for startups and agile developers, free for Open Source

The folks being Penpot also make a kanban management tool, kind of like Trello, called Taiga: http://taiga.io/ And it's also OSS.

I'm rooting for both of these, and now that they have some funding I hope they'll dedicate effort on polishing the rough edges (and do something about gratuitous amount of white space that permeates all of their web presence, and maybe reconsider their color pallete). They're very close, so I think and hope we'll some wonderful results very soon.

I think a container of Kanboard https://kanboard.org/ and an MCP integration would achieve something similar - mostly cause when I think of project management tools that is the only one that actually feels insanely snappy, compared to the slowness of Jira, OpenProject and tbh Trello is also slower.

Would actually be cool to have more local tools like that, that something like Claude Code can integrate with. Find a bug in the code of your own implementation? Comment it in the issue, or add a new thing to fix, then at the end of implementation do a small retro and maybe end up with a SHORT sentence to add to CLAUDE.md on what to look out for in the particular project, OR create a new work item to make some additional prebuild scripts or tests.

That's a really good thing, you don't always need heavyweight solutions with bunches of features that love to eat a lot of RAM (and CPU), sometimes a simpler option is fully sufficient.

Especially because this one doesn't try to tackle complex problems like auth, if it's for personal use, you can just put basicauth (over TLS), mTLS, OIDC or whatever your heart desires in front of it.

I've been using the likes of PrimeVue (https://primevue.org/), PrimeReact (https://primereact.org/) and PrimeNG (https://primeng.org/) because they attempt to give you a library of components that work well out of the box and have a similar API across multiple technologies: Vue, React and Angular, respectively.

I feel like at some point I'll probably make a project with just jQuery and possibly jQuery UI for the sake of it, since what's there doesn't seem too flashy, but would probably work just fine for most we based CRUD needs. I might end up rediscovering up close why people moved to the above in droves instead of jQuery, but honestly something that you just drop in and that works has a lot of appeal. No complex toolchains, no configuring a bunch of plugins and registering them with the app, no endless abstractions for state management and things about render loops to keep in mind, just a silly JS import and writing some shlocky code that still sorta works.
