I updated my Surface Go 3 firmware under Linux
I couldn't get fwupd to automagically update my Surface Go 3's firmware, so instead I found this repo: https://github.com/linux-surface/surface-uefi-firmware and followed the instructions there to update all my firmware manually. I installed the UEFI firmware update first, then just went down the list in alphabetical order. A couple firmware files didn't install due to Linux not recognizing the devices they pertained to, but most of them seemed to install just fine. I installed them one at a time, with a reboot between each one, so it took about 10-15 minutes total. I'm sure there's a way I could've installed all of the firmware files in one go, but I wanted to be explicit to ensure that all of them got installed properly.

Removing Windows from Surface Go 2
I've seen this (https://github.com/linux-surface/surface-uefi-firmware) repo which could be really helpful but I'm still a bit scared.

Linux on the laptop works so damn well that it’s boring
I wish Ubuntu didn't kill Wubi tho. We used that at my first workplace on laptops with Windows and it was so damn good. There is a new fork [0] but it's a hit and miss with modern UEFI and especially with Windows 11 (had to use it for some reason). And other distros never had an option like this afaik, none does as of today. But I know it's all about Docker, VMs, or WSL nowadays yet Wubi covered a niche segment which was pefect.

Could be bad for software or storage using Ubuntu from live usb?
Wubi. It creates an iso inside your partition and you can delete it without any hassle. It's a little slower than running on bare metal though.

Getting back into it dual boot
If you have Windows installed, you can try WubiUEFI (if you have a UEFI system). It installs like any other windows app and can be removed if needed. https://github.com/hakuna-m/wubiuefi/releases/tag/20044r344
