If you want a way without decky: https://github.com/AutoMcG/steamdeck_tools

Finally, a real reason to power down
Simple bash script that has a few videos supplied for you, plus you can add anything you want to /vids/ to make it part of the pick list. There's also a randomizer provided here. I'm biased here as I wrote this tool.

Random boot animation
https://github.com/AutoMcG/steamdeck_tools works fine for me

I'm working on a dynamic boot video generator using Remotion. Here's what I have as of now. Thoughts?
How expensive is it computationally to create one? You could probably pretty easily leverage a system similar to my Randomizer where you have a .service unit file that calls the script to create one. You could keep the video file in the same location with the same name and the same symlink to uioverrides/movies/deck_startup.webm and just overwrite the source video file on boot.

Decky plugin Animation Changer help
I found this tool which seems much easier to set up. Though it'd be nice if it was part of the Decky plugins.
-
I was watching The Simpsons where Smithers booted his computer and had to do it.
This tool does the trick and is really easy to use. Works perfect. I have about 25 boot videos, one gets randomly selected whenever I boot my deck.

Any apps/boot vid managers that retain fullscreen properties when updates happen?
I was using this previously: https://github.com/kageurufu/steamdeck_startup_animations but every time a Steam Deck update occurs, the videos shrink again and I have to open up the library.js files or whatever and edit them, then make sure they're the same filesize when done, which is a huge pain in the ass.

Ever since I installed custom boot videos, my deck has been glitched
After I ran the install command from here, my deck's booting screen has been glitching out the entirety of SteamOS. I've already run the uninstall command, and nothing has changed. Certain games won't start up at all anymore, the settings page is so bugged out that I can't even choose a WiFi network to connect to, its extremely frustrating and I can't even use my system because of it. I have more videos I can show - any help?

I found this plugin that might be the easiest way to change the Steam Deck boot videos and even allows you to randomize them. So naturally, I wrote a guide for overkill! I hope it helps.
That's also already a thing
- This might be a big request but is there any way to randomize the boot animation?
-
How possible would it be to have the boot animation automatically change to this every steam sale?
There already is a decent attempt at creating a systemd service for randomly selecting a boot video from a catalog, see https://github.com/kageurufu/steamdeck_startup_animations
- Everyone making cool boot screens. Then there's me...

Boot Video Randomizer is here!
I would also be remiss if I didn't share this repo which I used for reference on some of the techniques I employed.

I changed my boot video to the 90s Valve PC but it's super small. How do I make it take the whole screen?
there's a fix here https://github.com/kageurufu/steamdeck_startup_animations/issues/3
