Making a my first ever PCB and KiCad is kicking my ass.

I don’t think your point about led matrix is valid. Power usage will be pretty much the same (the only difference should be controllers’ power consumption). You might also want to check my switches footprints: https://github.com/sszczep/kicad-libraries

See this discussion on github: https://github.com/jcard0na/haxo-hw/discussions/10 You will see that there is a person there (raychmond) who's ordered a batch of 5 PCBs and has an extra one. Maybe no one has claimed it yet and you can get it from him.
