can a 2d game be made with rust without a game engine?
Here I implemented Snake game with just pixels. I did it after following Snake with Bevy tutorial to see how much more or less difficult it would be. In my experience the code turned out a little bit longer, but conceptually simpler.

I was following the Bevy tutorial implementing Snake game, and then decided for comparison rewrite it in Pixels. It turned out a bit longer, but much easier to understand and modify.

can a 2d game be made with rust without a game engine?
My second rust project was a remake of the first level of an old gameboy game (https://github.com/ShamylZakariya/Platformer) and I didn't use an engine, just wgpu, and some libs to handle stuff like audio, xml parsing, etc.

How good is rust at making games?
I recently wrote a 2D platformer in rust - admittedly, no engine, just wgpu for a graphics pipeline. It was a CRAZY amount of work, and while I am fairly new to rust, I can tell you it took me at least 3 to 4 times as long to build in Rust than if I'd built it using a high-level 2D-capable engine like Unity.
