Quest Hosts Computer Freezes on Towards the Future
So my brother and I recently got the excellent newserv running locally (https://github.com/fuzziqersoftware/newserv) and we enjoyed a regular run of Forest with no issues. We're both using Dolphin on different distros of Linux (I'm on Kubuntu he's on OpenSUSE).

Well, that's Nintendo for you. People will sell a broadband adapter for the GameCube and I believe this adapter was only used for 1 game (I think it was Phantasy Star Online) and the online service for it has been shut down, so you'd be payig this much for literally nothing. Oh lord.
Also PSO servers have been reverse engineered (https://github.com/fuzziqersoftware/newserv), which enables the ability to host private servers.
