As someone who has spent quite a few hours consolidating text messages into Signal, eg: https://github.com/alexlance/sms-mms-import-to-signal this is quite a disappointing change.
- When will SMS and MMS import be re-introduced? This is what is keeping me from using signal

exporting signal messages to the sms client
I was able to use https://github.com/alexlance/signal-message-changer to change all the Signal messages to SMS and then export them (using the Signal Beta SMS export).
