The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Physarum Simulation
Very interesting ABM! My ABMs use rayon, too https://github.com/facorread/rust-agent-based-models

A simulation of the Physarum Polycephalum slime rendered with Bevy
Very cool. I wish I had time to learn Bevy. I implemented a slightly more interesting Physarum model a while ago that simulates multiple populations simultaneously: https://github.com/mindv0rtex/physarum. Perhaps you could produce fancier looking videos if you adopt it in your visualization? :-)

Why is this function so slow?
In case it may be helpful to you, I recently implemented the blur algorithm you describe for my personal project. It also uses Rayon: https://github.com/mindv0rtex/physarum/blob/main/src/blur.rs

Show HN: Play with Shaders Inspired by Slime Mold
That's what I did when I recently came across the same model. Here's my CPU-based implementation (in Rust): https://github.com/mindv0rtex/physarum
