Ask HN: Ruby Warrior – online version available?
Many of us will remember https://github.com/ryanb/ruby-warrior. There was also a online game made out of this on bloc.io (with a great soundtrack to boot).
Would anyone have a resource available where this piece of nostalgia can be relived with new friends and family; sending a link and motivating them to hack and slash their way forwards?

I lucked into a well-paying tech job and IPO. AMA
The Odin Project - Offers two free curriculums, Full Stack Ruby on Rails and Full Stack JavaScript. Also community-based so you can talk to other people on the self-learning track. Open-source. Ruby Warrior - after you've set up your first rails project and a local rails environment, you can download this fun game and run it locally! Follow the read_me for setup instructions. RailsGirls Building a Rails App - it's not just for girls though and they're a great resource. Places to make open-source contributions: Exercism.io is open-source, Odin project is open-source, if you are dying for other open-source projects try googling for "open-source rails". Also, Canvas is open-source and a rails monolith if that sounds fun to you. GoRails Why's Poignant Guide to Ruby - I'm not actually sure how helpful I found this book but it was a really fun read and made me giggle.

Programming vs Web Development
If you're starting your journey in web development, here is a roadmap to follow. Understand that Web development is not merely an extension of programming; it's a distinct field that requires a unique blend of coding and visual design skills. Embrace the importance of visual aesthetics from the get-go, and continuously work on improving your design sense. Trust me it will pay off in the long run, and you'll be able to create truly exceptional web experiences that not only function well but also look and feel amazing.
