richdocuments VS web-client

You should be able to do this with nextcloud Office: https://nextcloud.com/collaboraonline/ It’s basically like google docs, so med students should be pretty familiar with the look and feel.

I also looked at the documentation here https://github.com/nextcloud/richdocuments which has a section for Federated editing. It tells me that I need to update a tag called "frame_ancestors" but when I do and push the new coolwsd.xml file to the docker image, it attempts to restart the service and then fails to ever start it again, but then I'm not sure if that will really fix the problem or not.

Sorry I don't have an answer, but I'm curious how you installed nextcloud office 5? I've tried to research this on several occasions and from what I've read it sounded like "nextcloud office" is just collabora online but rebranded somehow, and I couldn't find instructions on how to install anything other than collabora. The nextcloud/office repo has a link named "Nextcloud office" in the readme that directs to nextcloud/richdocuments repo, where the readme describes it as an app to integrate collabora online, and the about describes it as "collabora online for nextcloud" with a link to nextcloud.com/collaboraonline

Collabora seems to be a leading competitor for real-time document editing, you can see it bundled into Nextcloud Hub here: https://nextcloud.com/collaboraonline/

I solved it. It turns out https://nextcloud.com/collaboraonline/ left an outdated guide for nginx reverse proxy as they changed lool to cool (see my post i have updated it with solved link)

A self-hosted solution like, say, Nextcloud Collabora, or some FOSS groupware software, unless you also hate paying for hosting and maintaining a server.

If you add a site to iOS' homescreen it automatically becomes a PWA. The best example I found of a site fully leveraging this feature is Cryptee[0]. They talk about the PWA thing here: https://crypt.ee/download

Well, then - if self hosting is not your thing - something like crypt.ee might be your thing? Clearly a different pricing model, data is fully encrypted, open source, across platforms.

https://crypt.ee now. I used to mostly use local markdown editors like Ulysses and Zettlr.

I've only used it for editing docs but have found crypt.ee very easy to use.
