[General Discussion] Around the Horn - 6/11/23
I’ve never heard of Lemmy but I saw a post about a game thread bot. I assume that was you posting since it appeared to be a mod. The post mentioned not finding the source for the bots running today. You can find the bot platform and bots I’ve written for all 4 major sports at https://github.com/toddrob99/redball and baseballbot is in the repositories at https://github.com/fustrate.

Way to get probable lineups for a game?
For my game thread bots (e.g. /u/PhilsBot) my code that displays lineups is here, with data collected here.

GAME THREAD: Nationals @ Mets - Tue, May 31 @ 07:10 PM EDT
There is no cost to the sub. I'm running the bot at my house along with the r/phillies and r/braves bots (and eagles, flyers, sixers). I developed the bot as well, and since you brought it up, there's a sponsor button on the repo if you are so inclined. (Feels weird even posting that so I'll probably come back and edit later to remove the last bit.)

Projected Lineup vs. Projected Starter
I use a mako template to generate the lineups for my pre-game threads, and it pulls a lot of data other than the response from that API call, but here it is. In that template, data[gamePk]['homeBattersVsProb'] and data[gamePk]['awayBattersVsProb'] are the responses from those API calls (one for each team).

[Mod Post] We would like to welcome /u/toddrob to the mod team
If you're a geek like me and want to know more about how the bots are developed and hosted, you can find the code for my redball bot management platform on github including some outdated screenshots. I run redball in Docker on a Synology NAS at my house, which means it might be down from time to time if my power or internet goes out. That doesn't happen very often, but it has happened before and I'm sure it will again happen at some point.

How do you get a gold medal in level 54 of red ball 4
I don’t think this sub is about what you think it’s about. https://github.com/toddrob99/redball

RedBall deal fell through, Beane not leaving
Yeah, I just bought RBAC last week so that’s surely why there’s bad news now. Coincidentally my bot management platform (used to run game thread bots for several teams’ subs but not the A’s) is also called redball, so I felt like I had to invest.

You should instead look into using a library like TwitchIO (https://github.com/TwitchIO/TwitchIO) which handles all the connection stuff for you and lets you focus on the important part.
