The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

VSCode R session hangs when outputting grapgs
I had a lot of long input-related hang ups using the base R shell when a lot of code was involved and I never had an issue like that after I switched to radian. It is supported (and recommended) by the VSCode R extension and just much easier to use w/ long blocks of code.

Stable alternative to Rstudio with good autocomplete and plot on separate window?
I'd recommend radian for autocomplete + httpgd for plotting.
-
Unable to activate radian in VSCode on Mac?
Github issue I have raised: https://github.com/randy3k/radian/issues/402
-
What's your setup like to make your life easier?
I use the same extension you linked, along with: - Radian for syntax-highlighting & auto-completion - VSCode-R-Debugger - httpgd for serving graphics via HTTP
-
To those that use R without RStudio: Why? and What do you do instead?
I use radian in a terminal
- A 21 century R console
-
RStudio stop sign functionality
I'm curious why you run R in Docker. Does this allow you to run multiple R versions with different package versions or what? PS you might be interested in radian for R.
- Anyone use the hipster Radian console and VSCode for R?
-
Why doesn't RStudio support Python?
Otherwise, use VSCode. You'll be probably better of using VSCode. On the plus side: VSCode + Radian + R LSP Client is an awesome combination for R. You can use VSCodeVim, LiveShare, Bracket Pair Colorizer 2, BetterComments, colorize, ident-rainbow, Polacode, Rainbow CSV and others.

Show HN: Dbg.h: C macro for quick and dirty print debugging
Hey, very useful. Thanks! Similar to ic() for python, but with the nice ability to be used inline.

- When you are looking at someone else's code base and you want to make a copy of it to put in a million print statements to understand it, what is good practice in terms of version control and naming the copy?

Pythoneers here, what are some of the best python tricks you guys use when progrmming with python
Icecream is great for this. Just calling ic(foo) gives you the same thing on stderr.
- What's you fav ice cream??

What Python debugger do you use?
I get around this by using loguru (a wrapper around python's logger), so I get information like the calling function and line number with my debugging statements. I don't use it these days (and actually built something extremely similar around the same time), but icecream is another alternative that facilitates debugging-by-print
- Top 3 hardest things with debugging as a beginner?

Does anyone use python debugger?
Most of the time I simply use icecream (a much better version of print()), and sometimes, I use pudb (a visual debugger) for tougher/trickier bugs.

Let's do a war
We also have ice cream

What is your favorite ,most underrated 3rd party python module that made your programming 10 times more easier and less code ? so we can also try that out :-) .as a beginner , mine is pyinputplus
I found icecream in a post on this subreddit and still use it as an alternative to print for debugging.

A script for print debugging python code
In the future using something like icecream might be interesting as well.
What are some alternatives?

VSCode-R-Debugger - R Debugger Extension for Visual Studio Code
Loguru - Python logging made (stupidly) simple
httpgd - Asynchronous http server graphics device for R.
py-spy - Sampling profiler for Python programs
iTerm2 - iTerm2 is a terminal emulator for Mac OS X that does amazing things.
Laboratory - Achieving confident refactoring through experimentation with Python 2.7 & 3.3+
Visual Studio Code - Visual Studio Code
remote-pdb - Remote vanilla PDB (over TCP sockets).
tqdm - :zap: A Fast, Extensible Progress Bar for Python and CLI
PySnooper - Never use print for debugging again
