I wrote an article about parsing fitness tracker data in Python, with an emphasis on Garmin devices. Some of you might find it helpful
I know what you mean. Strava has a good feature for comparing runs along the same route, but I think they moved it to their paid tier last year. I've been working on something similar for a while though it's still nowhere near to usable.

Is there a self-hosted dashboard for Garmin Vivoactive 3 activities?
Are you primarily interested in displaying daily data or activities? I have been working on a (locally) self-hosted solution for displaying activities, though I don't know when it will be finished or close to it (it is a side project that I work on in my spare time). Before starting it I looked around to see if there was any existing solution out there and couldn't really find anything. As others suggested, Golden Cheetah seems somewhat popular but I don't know much about it (other than that it is primarily aimed at cyclists rather than runners).

Is there a self-hosted compatible fitness tracker (like a fitbit)?
I use and like Activity Log 2 - https://github.com/alex-hhh/ActivityLog2. You can import most common file formats like TCX, GPX and FIT.

This https://github.com/alex-hhh/ActivityLog2 works quite well for FIT files on desktop.

Just a random thought. Strava should be the new instagram
If you just want to track your workout data, there are far better softwares/websites to do it, I mean strict data analysis. As you don't give something to social part, could be great. GoldenCheetah , Github-ActivityLog2, TrainingPeaks:WKO5, Runalyze

Strava without Google Maps.. Solutions ?
As suggested I can record my activities from my watch/bikecomputer, and sync later, there are some apps who is kinda nice: GoldenCheetah, Runalyze, TrainingPeaks/WKO, Github: ActivityLog2, but I have not found a own-private-local cloud solution... OsmAnd+ and LocusMap are doing a good recording job as well, have not check if those recorded track/activity can be shared/transfered easily on a owncloud.
What are some alternatives?
