[Review Request] Raspberry Pi Pico based Keyboard/Controller
My main concern is power. The rp2040+ supports simultaneous charging and use, but I also want to make sure I don't accidentally leak power back up the cable (especially to the gamecube, since this could break it). I followed the circuit diagram for the usb c breakout, but since I am using a battery pack I have some concerns. There is also the rp2040+ schematic available online.

i am new and old
if you're playing on console it's a different story, you'd have to either get a prebuilt that works on the gamecube or use something like pico-rectangle.

Discussion: Normalization of Maximum Cardinal Inputs (1.0 vs 0.9875)
It's easy enough to write your own firmware for a box controller, the software is already out there on Github. So it's not enough even if all of Hitbox, Hax, Goomy, Greg Turbo, and Panda are all on board.

Ask HN: How to get started with practical hardware?
Agreed that keyboards are a good early project. To add to that, if you play video games, leverless arcade controllers can be a fun build also. Pretty similar overall as far as parts and shape, but the firmware they run (stuff like GP2040-CE or HayBox) make them act as controllers instead of keyboards, and they can even work on game consoles. Specifically I'd recommend the Flatbox rev 5[0] and the Open-Frame1[1].

So my board has a short somewhere. I already filled that hole on the right side. Do these joints look bad? Are they cold solder joints? Idk if I’m not applying enough solder or not enough heat.
Uhhh, it is custom. I can try and find the schematic. I have the website that shows how to order it. They’re from china. Jlpcb. https://github.com/GregTurbo/Open-Frame1

Any tips on soldering this raspberry pi to this board? I have to surface mount it can’t use through hole method.
This is what I’m doing the method doesn’t mention using the riser not sure if I need it. Will it just make it easier to align the pico? https://github.com/GregTurbo/Open-Frame1
