Open source Bitcoin Stratum Proxy
https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool isn't a standalone solo pool. It creates a new block chain with easier to mine blocks, which you share via a P2P protocol with others. When you crack a block you then try it on the main BTC blockchain and hope you get lucky.

I found this site has a list of nodes on P2Pool. https://p2pool.coinpool.pw oh even better P2Pool is a distributed pool. http://p2pool.in official pool site. I am thinking about making my own node.

How you can support the Bitcoin network even more!
You can start mining bitcoins to help processing transactions. In order to protect the network, you should join smaller mining pools and prefer decentralized pools like P2Pool or pools with getblocktemplate (GBT) support.

Setting up my own node?
running seth's docker image https://github.com/sethforprivacy/simple-monerod-docker under docker desktop would be a much better solution. you really don't want to run a full desktop environment just for monerod

As of today, Monero GUI is available as a flatpak
I don't know if monero works on Alpine, however it works on debian:stable-slim. There is already https://github.com/sethsimmons/simple-monerod-docker but an official one mantained it's another level
