Not sure what you mean. I skimmed the documentation for odfpy and it looks fine for what you want. They even have an example of specifically what you're doing.

looking for a project
odfpy is a python package to create OpenDocument files (odt, ods, ...) for LibreOffice (and other format supporting software of course). It is a low level package written in Python very close to XML. The project is nearly dead and need a new maintainer. There is also a need for a more high level API based on odfpy. But before that the original odfpy need be reanimated.
