Stay away from govee
Its a known issue especially with devices that rely on manufacturer provided cloud services - see other complaints. The rate is listed in their developer documentation guide but with no method of avoiding/reduction unless you inhibit all polling of your device

This. And once the API is public, let’s also get some official devs in here who can talk nerdy to us. Check out the r/eero community, as a good example. One of their devs hangs out there to have very technical discussions with people who are interested in that level of information. (You’re a legend, u/6roybatty6!) Also, once the API is released you’re likely to see an influx of more nerds people from the home automation communities like r/homeassistant. This is a pretty big market, and you could buy a lot of love, support, and new customers by having a software engineer who will engage with us. Especially if they can contribute code back to the existing open source integrations that people are already using.
