What chrome extensions are you using in 2023?
https://github.com/alyssaxuu/omni - for self-organization and optional browsing through your bookmarks in a familiar way (if you like Cmd+K spotlight search bar a common pattern in many modern applications, this is for you!)

Apps that should be paid, but are not (Part 3)
That hotkey is very cool to have, no questions asked but i was already using omni which does the same thing so i couldn't see the appeal to switch to it just because of that.

How to Extend the size of Search Bar ?
I find a better solution with this two extensions omni and vimium
- Never realized how much battery Chrome drained until I switched to another browser.

This weekend I build ⌘-k for Google Calendar
Hey hey!
This weekend I hacked together a quick command bar for Google Calendar. There are so many "Superhuman for Calendar" startups, but I don't really care about anything except the ⌘-k bar, so I just built a really good implementation myself.
It's already a way better Command Bar than most existing command bars from Superhuman or Raycast because it uses a LLM to do some of the parsing.
I did the overlay using a Chrome extension [1]. So I called it "Lui" (Language User Interface) and I'm going to make it work for more sites like Webflow, Mixpanel, Typeform and even Jira. What Lui's do you want to see?
My ambition is to make the web as wonderful to use as the terminal (once you've learned it, of course). But there's a reason GUI killed DOS, it's just super unforgiving. I think my Lui fixes that problem.
Chrome has yet to approve my app so you can't download it yet but if you put in your email I'll send you the `dist` so you can load it unpacked. I'm also consider open-sourcing some of it if people are interested, since I can't possibly build all the Lui's myself so other people should.

Recommendation for app that makes the experience of macOS even better?
Omni - This is technically not an app - it's a Chrome extension; basically gives you the equivalent of Spotlight within Chrome, allowing you to do a bunch of things without ever having to touch the trackpad
- omni - he all-in-one tool to supercharge your productivity

The Largest Money-Printing Element Ever Made
Pretty sure it was Nicholas Jitkoff[1] and his team. He had done Quicksilver[2] a few years back which popularized this single input interface for osx desktop.

Keyboard tricks from a macOS app dev
I've used Quicksilver for clipboard history historically. There is a currently a bug that I've been meaning to delve into: https://github.com/quicksilver/Quicksilver/issues/2913 but still generally usable. Particularly handy combined with adding simple AppleScript or JXA actions to manipulate the content (I have several simple ones for example to run a regex, to clean extraneous content around a number, a phone number, strip whitespace, indent 4 spaces for pasting into a markdown codeblock on SO, etc etc).
The Shelf plug-in also very handy along similar lines.

Resolving the Great Undo-Redo Quandary
For a browsable clipboard history on macOS, I recommend LaunchBar (https://www.obdev.at/products/launchbar/; docs at https://www.obdev.at/resources/launchbar/help/ClipboardHisto...). I used to use the Clipboard Plugin of the free and open source app Quicksilver (https://qsapp.com/), which worked fine but was slightly less streamlined. Some people prefer Alfred (https://www.alfredapp.com/help/features/clipboard/).

Shortcat – Manipulate macOS masterfully, minus the mouse
This is great. Reminds me of QuickSilver[1]. I'm evaluating HomeRow[2] for a VIM driving the Mac OS, will try this as well.
I love how:
a. accessibility features are making the OS more accessible for everyone through automation
b. good the accessibility implementation is on the Mac that most applications are inherently compatible with solutions like this.

Sol: Open-source Alfred/Raycast alternative for macOS
Good to see something like this, don't forget there is already an open source alternative (pre-existing) for Alfred and Raycast. It's called Quicksilver - https://qsapp.com
