obs-v4l2sink VS HyperHDR

There a temporal workaround but it's quite old and honestly I don't know if it still works on modern systems. It's basically to use this plugin https://github.com/CatxFish/obs-v4l2sink If you manage to install it it should give you the ability to choose what of your loopback devices should be the virtual cam. well the easiest way I can think of is just using the OBS virtual camera thing (Unsure if they released it officially on Linux, but there is a plugin for that [1]).

Use chroma key to remove the background and add a video there, possibly on a loop.

In case the built-in filters are not sufficient or unavailable, the workaround would be to install OBS. In OBS, set up your webcam as a source, and set up a view that has all the effects that you want. Then set up a virtual webcam: if you're using Windows, using OBS Virtualcam; if you're on a Mac, using the "Start Virtual Camera" button built into OBS; and if you're on Linux, using the v4l2loopback kernel module and the obs-v4l2sink plugin. You can then configure Zoom to use this virtual webcam, which has all the extra effects that you configured.

Try using OBS studio along with something like v4l2sink.

You can DIY your own with a IC-based RGB/RGBW strip and a rPi or x86 PC + ESP microcontroller using software like Hyperion or HyperHDR, combined with WLED.

I spent a lot of time looking into this. Didn't want to lose HRD to implement Hyperion. I found the HyperHDR fork. Which will convert HRD signal to SDR and works really well out of the box. only thing I had to update was to turn the brightness down in the capture settings. Found a HDMI splitter on Amazon that handles CEC pass through. I lost Dolby Vision, because I couldn't find a splitter that will downgrade dolby vision to 1080p for the capture card. But I had to be honest with myself, I can't tell the difference between Dolby Vision and HDR 10+. Now I have an ambient light solution that allows me to keep HDR without dropping big bucks on something like HD Fury. Very Happy, works with HA still too.
