    However the samples you sent me are a no-go because they were built with Optix version 6, and I'm on version 7.2.0, and there are incompatibilities. BUT, because of a similar issue posted on the repo (dude couldn't get the samples to build), one of the Nvidia devs ported some of the apps over to Optix 7 and created a repo here: https://github.com/NVIDIA/OptiX_Apps which I'm now trying to build.
