The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Non conventional 3D Print challenges (GCode)
With fullcontroll.xyz you can edit every point and its properties like speed, extrusion values or non-planar coords.
I've been developing a similar add-on for Blender called nozzleboss. https://github.com/Heinz-Loepmeier/nozzleboss

Knitted Jar Jar Binks
Hopefully the user will respond as they know more than me but it’s this plugin for Blender: https://github.com/Heinz-Loepmeier/nozzleboss I personally haven’t got it working properly yet but there’s some pretty cool stuff that it seems to be capable of.

Sculpting G-code with Blender...
Sculpting G-code with Blender... Still doing different experiments to modify printing paths in Blender. It's a really cool and flexible approach, since you have all of Blenders modelling tools at your disposal, sculpting is just one example. Makes use of nozzleboss, a G-code importer/generator/exporter add-on I've been working on. Made a mini video tutorial for an overview of the process of how to create complex patterns with relatively simple means.

Drooloops in skin
It'd be great to have something like a non-random fuzzy skin, but perhaps some pre/post-processing could work too? I feel like this awesome blender plugin could be a good post-processing starter
- Built a Printer with a "rotating nozzle" to change colors quickly

Multi-color dithering technique - takes forever but very cool results
Every layer gets divided into 5 sublayers, so printing time is 5x. G-code paths were manually created in Blender and exported with nozzleboss add-on, which allows you to assign colors to single toolpaths.

Why is there almost zero support for curve based slicing?
There is an addon for blender (blender.org) called nozzleboss (https://github.com/Heinz-Loepmeier/nozzleboss) that allows you to import gcode and modify it real time and export it again. you could use spines for curves not sure about vectors tho. this is what I found about vector vs vertex: "A 'vector' is a mathematical concept; crudely, it represents a displacement in some coordinate space. A vertex is an element of some 3D (or 2D, really) geometry which typically has a position and some other attributes (color, texture coordinates, et cetera)." Hope this helps.

Non conventional 3D Print challenges (GCode)
I wrote a python library for directly generating GCode when I was working at a university lab that needed more direct control over their very high end 3D printers. You can check it out here:
https://github.com/jminardi/mecode
Its been a few years since I have worked on it but from what I understand the lab members are still using it.
What are some alternatives?
