[2022 in RoguelikeDev] Age of Transcendence
I think my biggest problems, other than lack of skills were that I got caught half way between defining with data and creating a scripting language, as well as the sheer size and conditionality that was creeping into the data. If I did it again I'd go harder on the scripting as that would make the data definition lighter, I think. Here's what my data looked like: https://github.com/Snayff/notquiteparadise/blob/74aafd3b91c61ffbe96e37e54e9206d1783c1ce6/data/game/skills.json . There was also a secondary issue of creating a system with enough flexibility to allow creative use, but I think that was solvable.

Is there a dungeon crawler roguelike with a generating "mana" system like in Magic?
Raywizard - You create spells to order by combining different elements. You have a free hand to combine them as you see fit, and you need to experiment to figure out what effects you can get from different combinations.

Difficulties nesting events in the new python tcod oop framework
I did have a project which supported auto-expore, but the code is as mostly as bad as the tutorial, maybe worse in some cases. The source for that is here, and the relevant code is spread over too many places. Should have been more procedural when writing these.
What are some alternatives?
