My source: a lot of experience (the author of https://github.com/ctu-mrs/mrs_uav_system). Moreover, definitely check our cheatsheet: https://github.com/ctu-mrs/mrs_cheatsheet.

Run ros on raspberry Pi
As other commenters say, ROS and ROS2 works great on a Pi, we use one as a companion computer on our drones. Rviz not so useful, would recc running Rviz on another machine over the network. Also recc the use of docker with ROS, we use it heavily with our system - https://github.com/StarlingUAS/ProjectStarling

HeRo 2.0, an ultra-low cost 3D-printed robotics platform, could open swarm robotics experimentation up to all.
On Sim, we are trying to get there but its a trade off between realistic dynamics and scale as for drones the simulation to real barrier is a real pain. Check out our project on github :) https://github.com/StarlingUAS/ProjectStarling
