DUR is Finally here Yes!
I'm in the middle of writing a reference MPR helper (DUR changed branding) called mpm, and at current it supports searching, installing, and updating. You need makedeb installed, and then you just have to build mpm from the PKGBUILD on the MPR.

[Product Release] Introducing the Debian User Repository: The AUR for Debian distros (More info in the comments)
Then came along a side project: mpm. This installed packages directly from the AUR and Arch Linux repositories. There was an attempt at getting another thing going to convert dependencies between the two distros (which was needed), but it was a lot of effort, and I decided to put some effort into this instead.

Questions from an intermediate user transitioning to noob.
I've also got a companion project that can automatically pull in and install packages from the AUR and Arch repositories using their respective PKGBUILDs.

For non Arch-based distro users: How do you get software not available in the repos?
You can find the project here. Again, it doesn't work with a ton of stuff, but there's a small list of packages that I know do work here: https://github.com/hwittenborn/mpm/blob/alpha/WORKING\_PACKAGES.md

svt-av1 1.5.0-1 broke ffmpeg and ab-av1 -crf setting
Yep looks like ffmpeg package needs to be rebuilt against svt-av1 1.5.0. In the meantime you can checkout, build & re-install the ffmpeg pkgbuild locally to fix.

Is it possible to install gnome 3 on the latest version of arch Linux?
Download the PKGBUILDs from the archlinux svntogit trunk and use makepkg as you'd normally would I guess. Here's the PKGBUILD for gnome-shell v. 3.38.4 for example: https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-packages/blob/e93ee10b663dedcebfd8c33fd53b82f642a0a0a8/trunk/PKGBUILD

Python 3.11 is in the repos now \o/
The old python PKGBUILD from the Arch repos is here, in case anyone wants to build it themselves under the python310 name (with additional minor modifications): https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-packages/blob/855d73921bb8e86820a7731870de335c3c2fa236/trunk/PKGBUILD
- It appears GNOME is in the process of being updated
- GNOME 44 spotted in the repos
What are some alternatives?
pacstall - An AUR-inspired package manager for Ubuntu
espanso - Cross-platform Text Expander written in Rust
makedeb - A simplicity-focused packaging tool for Debian archives
optimus-manager - A Linux program to handle GPU switching on Optimus laptops.
zen-kernel - Zen Patched Kernel Sources
gse-sound-output-device-chooser - Gnome Shell Extension to show a simple chooser to select Input & Output device based on gnome control center
org.chromium.Chromium
lightdm - Login screen using the LightDM framework.
dash-to-dock - A dock for the Gnome Shell. This extension moves the dash out of the overview transforming it in a dock for an easier launching of applications and a faster switching between windows and desktops.
svntogit-community - Automatic import of svn 'community' repo (read-only mirror)
mkinitcpio - Arch Linux initramfs generation tools (read-only mirror)
dash-to-panel - An icon taskbar for the Gnome Shell. This extension moves the dash into the gnome main panel so that the application launchers and system tray are combined into a single panel, similar to that found in KDE Plasma and Windows 7+. A separate dock is no longer needed for easy access to running and favorited applications.
