Is there anything similar to Easyrpg for RPG Maker XP?
It depends on what part of Easyrpg you're trying to replicate. If you mean that you want the games to run less crappily on modern systems, and/or you want multi-platform support, then yes. There is mkxp and mkxp-z. However, it's not exactly a plug-and-play solution, and it's something meant to be implemented by the developer of the game, rather than the players themselves.

Do's and Do Not's of releasing a game on something like steam for a few bucks?
You can use XP if you like; just use something like mkxp to get modern app behaviors.

Does anyone know about Falcon-mkxp and its incompatibility issue?
I actually hadn't heard of Falcon-mkxp before, but I have played around with mkxp-z a bit, and it was simple to use. AFAIK, it was last updated a few months ago, and it's pretty widely used (since it's used in Pokemon Essentials). You might give it a shot.

Some RPG Maker XP games (read: Pokemon fangames) will run natively, with excellent performance, using mkxp-z. I suspect we will eventually be able to get most/all running that way.
The "mkxp" project is a cross-platform, drop-in replacement for the RPGMakerXP executable (the "Game.exe" file)—you copy the platform-specific binary and dependencies to your game folder, point it to the Game.exe file, and run that binary instead of Game.exe. It has sort of died and sort of been revived, and the current fork is mkxp-z. It yields performance improvements even on Windows, and on Linux the difference is night and day. It's so good that current versions of Pokemon Essentials include mkxp, and have for the past year, so recent fangames (I believe it's Pokemon Essentials 19+? Don't quote me on that) should work well on the Deck.

Will Pokemon Essentials work on Batocera?
This thing's supposed to let RPG Maker games run without Windows https://github.com/mkxp-z/mkxp-z but I don't know if it works.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing mkxp and mkxp-z you can also consider the following projects:
