Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

3rd draft. 2nd semester Junior, CS; ALSO, can you point me in the direction of a big CS project? Personally, I think projects like "created X to visualize sorting algorithms" is not impressive. Algorithms are mostly copy paste, and visualizing sounds a lot cooler than it is impressive. No hate tho -
API calls is how these 2 connect. Here's an example of a random (backend) API I just found rn: https://github.com/wh-iterabb-it/meowfacts So when you go to https://meowfacts.herokuapp.com/ (where the backend is hosted) you get a random cat fact back as a json. A hypothetical frontend would be a some pretty looking React site with a button where you could click it and generate a new cat fact.
