better_thermostat
This custom component for Home Assistant will add crucial features to your climate-controlling TRV (Thermostatic Radiator Valves) to save you the work of creating automations to make it smart. It combines a room-temperature sensor, window/door sensors, weather forecasts, or an ambient temperature probe to decide when it should call for heat and automatically calibrate your TRVs to fix the imprecise measurements taken in the radiator's vicinity. The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

[Landlord - PA, USA][UK?] Locking Thermostatic Radiator Valves?; hydronic heat
I use Home Assistant with devices listed on https://github.com/KartoffelToby/better_thermostat. Some of those have lock modes on them.

Thermostatic Valves plus Central Boiler setup questions
I simplified my original explanation a little. I actually use an add-on ( Better Thermostat ) combined with a separate temp and humidity sensor. It’s not necessarily relevant to your question about controlling the home thermostat (nest) but worth knowing about if you go down the rabbit hole.
