Make Twitter Great Again
FWIW you might be able to enjoy the Fediverse via a Friendica server (which also interacts with Twitter) if your desktop twitter client isn't hardwired, though likelier to find desktop client/s that suits down amongst joinmastodon.org/apps or just using web-interface. Best wishes anyway

> Doesn't have an app
It does have an app. See https://joinmastodon.org/apps for not only the official app, but also literally dozens of third-party apps.

AMA with Eugen Rochko, Founder and lead developer of Mastodon, a decentralized, open-source social media platform based on open web protocols. Ask your questions here!
In the meantime, you could try a third party app such as Fedilab or Tusky.

Didn't get the email, now I'm stuck here
You're right, the official app is not very mature. There are four other Android apps listed at https://joinmastodon.org/apps. You may like one of those better.
- Mastodon links in name or bio now banned from Twitter for being “malware”
- Mastodon for Android app is officially released

Paying users get early access to the new change
You see the same dynamic happening with Mastodon, which is built on top of an open protocol called ActivityPub.

So this guy is now S3. All of S3
On a more serious note: Given that many user communities in the FediVerse are people conscious of their privacy and of suffering pile-ons by large majorities of outsiders, I wonder how many more examples of this there will be before people start asking the developers for out-of-the-box defaults that simply blacklist all requests that come in with referrer headers containing news.ycombinator.com and other similar "Slashdotting" sites.
It's not beyond the bounds of possibility. Compare https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/15431 .

Supporting Publish Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere
The plugin supports syndicating content to dev.to, Mastodon and Twitter (while it lasts 😉). Additional syndication targets are planned, but please let us know what you’d like to see next by raising an issue.

How do I get the feed of a server without signing up?
Algorithmic recommendation systems are one of the things Mastodon specifically advertises not having. It's right on the front page of joinmastodon.org.

Twitter is faking signups for its new blue checkmark
You know what's weird? The first time the idea of a full search was mentioned was Feb 3 2017. It wasn't implemented at that time, and the first version of Mastodon was released 2016. The "toot" you linked was from May 3 2017. It's almost like a full text search never existed in the first place.

Now, you can embed Mastodon posts in Medium stories
I don't think the Follow button should recommend signing in, at least not as the primary action. It's unlikely to be relevant to a user who just opened the page. I hadn't realized the sign in page doesn't have the server name, maybe it's config dependent because I do see more text when I look at the sign in page for other servers.
I think web based protocol handlers would be the simplest way to solve this and they don't require installing any browser plugin or a central portal (or OAuth). There has been discussion of it but not critical mass to solve the problem for the whole network.
