There's a new map style on OpenStreetMap.org
Is this not good? (Genuine question if you tried it. I never used it, I just had it bookmarked because the README looked good.)

Simple solution for rendering a satellite view of a small area
You can render tiles of a small region from OSM data yourself with https://github.com/enzet/map-machine, but I have no idea how to do this for aerial imagery.

certain map data wont show in export
I really like map-machine for exporting OSM data to an image. It unfortunately also doesn't render benches as ways, but at least puts an icon there. Here is the result of running map-machine render -c 48.14867/11.55902 -z 19 -s 2000,1000: https://imgur.com/k1s8NOi

There is a Docker file as well.

Help: getting PNG of map given bounding box GPS coordinates

BTW, there is also an issue tracker on GitHub, where one can request new icons for favorite tags.

Just finished first 250 icons for Röntgen project aimed to show as many OSM map features as possible
The project was started as a design exercise inspired by Osmic. Some time later I discovered Maki extension Temaki with 500+ icons. Both projects are great, but they follow a bit different aesthetic criteria.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing map-machine and temaki you can also consider the following projects:
TkinterMapView - A python Tkinter widget to display tile based maps like OpenStreetMap or Google Satellite Images.
geo-heatmap - :world_map: Generate an interactive geo heatmap from your Google location data
OSM-Garmin-Maps-by-VasaM - Script for generating Garmin maps from OSM data.
gmapIcons2osmand - KML to GPX convertion with icons
icoextract - Extract icons from Windows PE files (.exe/.dll)
OpenTopoMap - A topographic map from OpenStreetMap and SRTM data
openstreetmap-carto - A general-purpose OpenStreetMap mapnik style, in CartoCSS
osmic - CC0 SVG Map Icons, mirror of repo on Gitlab
